COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -Sergei Fedorov gave the Detroit Red Wings a reminder of what they used to have.

Fedorov scored twice and added an assist against his former team as the Columbus Blue Jackets held on to beat Detroit 4-3 on Monday night.

``I think it's special for him, but I think he's been unbelievable every game,'' said teammate Rick Nash, who had a goal and an assist.

Jason Chimera also scored for Columbus, which snapped a two-game losing streak on the heels of a season-best five-game winning streak. David Vyborny added three assists.

Robert Lang tallied twice and Jiri Hudler also scored for the Red Wings, who had won six of seven. Dan Cleary and Jason Williams each registered two assists for Detroit, which lost in Columbus for the first time in three years.

The Blue Jackets took a 3-0 lead in the first period on 12 shots and left the ice to a standing ovation.

``In the first period, they had their legs going,'' Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. ``When one team has their legs going they look good.''

But Detroit dominated the final 40 minutes and held a 29-14 shots advantage.

``We were more fresh in the first ... but throughout the middle of the game we were struggling,'' said Fedorov, who has 10 goals this season and 10 points in his last six games.

The Red Wings pulled within 3-2 before Fedorov's second goal with two minutes left. Lang made it 4-3 just 20 seconds later.

``We sat back on our lead and relied on our goaltender in the second and third period too much,'' Columbus coach Ken Hitchcock said.

Chimera started the scoring, stealing the puck from Detroit goalie Dominik Hasek from behind the net. Chimera curled around and fired a high shot past Hasek for a short-handed goal at 8:30.

``I don't think Hasek saw me coming, and he handed it right to me,'' Chimera said.

Nash made it 2-0 with his 12th just 1:24 later, flying in from the left wing on a pass from Vyborny, deking Hasek and sliding the puck into the goal on a highlight-reel play that covered the length of the ice with Vyborny and Fedorov.

Nash has five goals and 11 points in six games.

``It was huge to get that first goal and grab the momentum of the game,'' he said. ``It was definitely a big factor.''

Vyborny fed a pass to Fedorov for a one-timed shot on the power play to make it 3-0 at 18:38.

Chris Osgood replaced Hasek to start the second period, making his first appearance since fracturing his wrist on Nov. 3.

Lang put the Red Wings on the board at 13:57 of the second period, stepping around Jody Shelley and stuffing his own rebound past Fredrik Norrena.

Hudler cut the lead to 3-2, fending off defenseman Aaron Johnson in the slot and converting a pass from Kris Draper at 12:42 of the third period. Mathieu Schneider assisted on the play to extend his point streak to 10 games.

``It's a 60-minute game, and you have to be prepared to start,'' Babcock said. ``When we needed the opportunity to get back in the game, at that point we needed just one more play, just one more save, and we didn't get it.''

Fedorov scored at 18:08 with a low shot from the slot on a counterattack pass from Vyborny.

Notes: The game was the first of three in 10 days between the clubs. ... Columbus is 7-4-2 under Hitchcock. ... Detroit has the longest current streak without being shut out (151). MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds

With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.

Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season.  Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.

This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy.  A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
